SPENGA CREW Spotlight: Ali Crisafulli
If you've ever taken a class with Ali then you already know that this fitness rockstar really knows her stuff (like, really REALLY knows!)
When she’s not sweating it out and kicking butts, Ali enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters, going to see live music, and trying new restaurants!
Read on below to learn more about Ali…
How did you get into Fitness?
After the birth of my second daughter, I was eager to get back into shape. I started going back to spin classes and realized I loved it so much I wanted to try to become an instructor myself. I signed up for a course and made it happen! From there, my first job as a spin instructor parlayed into teaching other formats of group fitness and eventually led me to pursue my personal trainer certification with NASM.
How do you motivate yourself?
My motivation always comes from the way I feel after a workout. I’m always chasing that adrenaline high!
How do you motivate others?
Everybody is unique, so when I’m training clients privately I figure out where I can push them and where I need to pull back. In a group setting it’s all about the energy and the music! I like to ride that fine line between challenging but fun.
In class, how do you accommodate different skill levels?
I am a big stickler for form and I always think back to what I’ve learned in my various certifications. My clients’ safety is always first and foremost so I always have modifications ready to go when needed.
What are the top three exercises you recommend for any client?
My top three are all foundational movements. The squat, the hip hinge, and the plank. Almost every other exercise can be built off of these three basic moves.
How can people best prepare for your class?
Make sure that you’re hydrated and have had a little bit to eat. Other than that just bring some water and an open mind and you will be good to go!
If you could visit anywhere in the world where would it be?
The Maldives! I would also love to visit Croatia and Iceland to see the northern lights.
In the morning, I can’t live without..
Coffee!! I love it so much. I think it’s more about the ritual and the taste than it is the caffeine. But one or 2 cups is the best pre-workout!
The most amazing vacation I took was...
A cruise around the Greek islands with my family when I was a teenager. It was magical.
Favorite sports team?
The New Orleans Saints! Who dat!
If you could do a rewind or pause button on your life...
I would choose a rewind. I would love to relive all those special moments with my girls as babies.
Would you rather spend the night at a luxury hotel or in nature?
I hate to say this but the hotel. I love nature but just not to sleep in.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
I rowed crew competitively in high school and would love to get back into the sport one day! I also enjoy writing and have even written a children’s book that I hope to get published in the near future!
